The only difference is that some of them will foster negative gossip meant to attack your dignity and destroy your relationship.

Why do they talk about you?
The fact that you are still alive and existing where people can see you is enough for them to start talking about you. In fact even if you died today, they will still remain talking about you whenever they remember. But the other reason they may have is that you are prospering in one area or the other, and they seem to be failing to reach your level no matter how they try. They look at how your relationship has stabilised, but they cant figure out how you manage. However, some of them might have genuine concerns that highlight serious problems they have seen which you are not able to see.

What is the best approach?
People who talk about your relationship usually don't do so with the aim of seeing you develop. Most of them want to see you separated or just struggling. Therefore, if you are to confront each and everyone of them, you may have a serious unpaid battle ahead of you. But the best time to confront and end such is when the evidence is just overwhelming and the opportunity to air your side of the story avails itself. Otherwise, like the saying goes, 'to please a fool, just ignore', you are better off minding your business with your partner and ignoring such people. Save your energy and time for important things. Don't go about responding to every rumor about you that you come across.
